instructions for relaxing /

preparation /
Just like preparing for a perm, it’s important to get hair into optimum condition prior to relaxing curl.
1. Prior to application, wash hair with Clarify Shampoo.
2. Analyse the hair using the Wet Stretch Test to determine its condition.
3. Shampoo and treat the hair using the correct Organic Colour Systems shampoo and treat if required.
4. Ensure the hair has a good stretch and return before using Think Curl™.
remember /
Ideally, treatments process for 15 minutes under the Thermal Booster Hat, with the exception of Power Build Revamp when used on its own, which is processed without the use of the booster cap.
mixing /

for hair with normal stretch and return /
Use 70ml Think Curl™ Lotion with 30ml Think Curl™ Activator.

for strong hair that stretches but doesn't fully return /
Use 70ml Think Curl™ Lotion with 15ml Think Curl™ Activator.

application /
1 / Starting at the nape, take one-inch horizontal sections and apply the mixture from roots to mid-lengths and ends.
2 / Using a narrow tooth comb or tail-comb gently comb the mixture through each section from roots to ends. Continue working up the head using this method until all hair is covered by the mixture.
3 / Again starting at the nape, continue to comb the hair straight. Keep working towards the front then return to the nape and repeat until the curl is relaxed.
remember /
Keep applying the mixture at each stage to ensure hair does not dry out. If excess lotion comes into contact with the scalp, hairline, nape or ear remove immediately with wet cotton wool and spray with Soothe Plus Treatment.

testing the hair /
1 / Use the tail end of a tail-comb to lift a small section of hair.
2 / Wipe the mixture from the strand to reveal the amount of curl left.
3 / If there is too much curl remaining, reapply the mixture and comb as before. Leave on for a further 5-15 minutes and test again.
4 / Once you are happy with the result, rinse and neutralise.
did you know? /
Another way to test the hair is to wrap a small, fine section of hair around the end of a tail-comb. If the hair closely knots to the tail, then it is ready. If it bounces away and does not knot, then leave to develop and retest every 5 minutes.

neutralising /
1 / Thoroughly rinse the lotion from the hair for 10-15 minutes, ensuring all the lotion has been removed.
2 / Before applying the Think Curl™ Neutraliser, pump eight drops of Think Curl™ Deodoriser into the Neutraliser and gently tip the bottle to mix the contents. Take care to add no more than 10 drops of Deodoriser.
3 / Starting at the nape, gentle take one-inch horizontal sections of hair and apply Think Curl™ Neutraliser from root to tip. Comb through once and continue to the next section of hair.
4 / Leave for 5-10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
5 / Gently towel-dry hair and apply Soothe Plus Treatment to the scalp. Leave for 5 minutes.
6 / Apply Power Build Conditioner from root to tip and leave for a further 5 minutes.
7 / Rinse and carefully towel dry.
client care for relaxed hair /
It's crucial to teach your client how to care for their relaxed hair. Special care is required, especially in the 72 hours directly following their service.
Hair should not be washed for 72 hours following the perming process. However, dry shampoos may be used in this time.
If your client undertakes physical activities, such as a workout, which make them perspire heavily during the first 72 hours following the relaxing process, it is important to blow-dry and flat iron any areas which may be damp.
For superior service longevity, prescribe your client with the correct OCS care and styling products as determined by the Wet Stretch Test and their styling needs.
